Watering frequency truly depends on a couple of factors such as your plant’s soil mixture and the type of pot its planted in. If your plant is potted in a more peat-based mixture, then you may not have to water it as often as peat retains and holds onto water for longer. If you plant is potted in more well draining mixture, then the soil will dry faster, and you may have to water more frequently.
The pot is also an important factor. If you plant is potted in an unglazed terracotta pot, terracotta wicks up moisture so your soil will dry out faster. You may have to check and water your plant more frequently, as opposed to a plastic pot, which doesn’t wick away moisture. As a good rule of thumb when you get a new plant it is good practice to check your plant every few days to see how often it takes for the soil to dry.
